In terms of writing style, you can see that we stay true to the voice of the memoirist and —  for childhood memories in particular —  we try to retain a conversational style of writing. Our hope is that family members will be able to 'hear' the person speak, as they read. 

Case Study

Rosemary, 87,

wanted to record her

memories of her

grandparents, her childhood, 

her childhood home, and her early adulthood up to the point of

having children.

 

She felt that from then on the

stories became more familiar to the rest of the family.         

Six hours of interview resulted in a memoir called Recollections with the following structure:

Introduction

Chapter 1 - Stories about her father’s family

Chapter 2  - Stories about her mother’s family

Chapter 3  - Her family and memories of her childhood home

Chapter 4 - Wartime recollections

Chapter 5 - Her experiences abroad in the 1950s
